You can also read a conversation I had with the poet Charlotte Gann about this poem and its themes of hiding and unmasking.
Trainee Teacher
I was a trainee teacher for two months during the pandemic before suffering burnout and leaving suddenly. This poem came from that experience.

Recurring Nightmare and Living with Flies
Recurring Nightmare is another poem about being a trainee teacher (you can probably detect a theme here!). Living with Flies is a short fairy story about my mother's grief and its impact on the rest of the family.
